Quite the Senate delegation you've got there:
Olympia Snowe: "President Barack Obama 'should take it [i.e., the public option] off the table,' said Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) on CBS's 'Face the Nation.' 'It would give real momentum to building consensus.'"
Susan Collins: "A moderate Republican who has previously broken with her party to support President Obama's $787 billion stimulus bill said Sunday that she does not support the idea of using a so called 'trigger' on the public health insurance option as part of health care reform legislation. Asked on CNN's State of the Union if the use of the trigger would make inclusion of the public option more acceptable, Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, unequivocally replied 'no.'"
No public option, no trigger... so what's the point?
And what good is "compromise" -- or "bipartisanship" generally -- if it just means allowing a couple of split-the-difference Republican "moderates" to get their way at the expense of meaningful reform?

Agreed. Bipartisanship became doing what the GOP says under Bush, and it looks like it will continue in that manner.
