A couple of days after the election, and all the hoopla has dissipated, I think one needs to step back and look at the fact that Toronto may be in trouble.
Toronto, I think, is similar to New York City in many ways, one of which is that we're left-leaning and proud of our progressive thinking. Which is why all of our elected representatives were either Liberal or NDP.
Unfortunately, that means our chances for Cabinet representation will be slim.
It's a troubling thought, that such a large city will have almost no voice where it's needed most. Everything will be dependent on whether Harper looks at Toronto more closely (his transit suggestion demonstrated that he is quite disconnected from the realities here), or if he's willing to collaborate with some of our MPs.

Don't remind me. I'm not happy with the way things panned out either.
The only consolation that we Canucks can take is that the minority government will keep the Conservatives on a tight leash, so hopefully, there will be some degree of moderation.

I have proposed a new party, the DEAP (displaed expat American party). It's platform is manifest destiny... the infiltration of Canada and Quebec by the Americans so that eventually we take over the country.
Anyway, when I explained my party to someone else, I was told, "Well, there's a party in Canada that already beat you to it."
I said, "Who?"
They said, "The conservatives. Whatever America wants, they roll over and do."
