Understatement of the Year
By Michael J.W. Stickings
It's only March 2, but it'll be tough to beat this.
Yesterday on Meet the Press, SecDef Robert Gates said that "Obama is somewhat more analytical" than Bush.
Somewhat?
Think Progress has the video -- as well as the video of Ed Gillespie's response on CNN. Gillespie responded to Gates's point that Bush "didn't go out of his way to make sure everybody spoke if they hadn't spoken up before" by claiming that Bush "did listen to everyone" and noting that "everybody has their own style." Gates's estimation of the two presidents' relative analytical tendencies (abilities?) didn't come up.
