The odds on Joe the Plumber
By Michael J.W. Stickings
Like Michelle Cottle, I got an e-mail yesterday afternoon from a "media representative" of a site called BetOnline* (for which I cannot vouch -- check out and use at your own risk). Now, I'm generally not big on gambling, but this is amusing. BetOnline has set the odds for Joe the Plumber Wurzelbacher's political/media career:
I suspect he may very well run for public office someday, and perhaps sooner rather than later, but I especially like those odds on being hired by a "major television news network."
And Michelle points to the obvious: Fox News. It's only a matter of time.
* It's amazing what mailing lists you find yourself on -- have I mentioned I'm on the mailing list of the Venezuelan embassy in Washington (no, I didn't ask to be, but it's amusing, in a way, to read Chavista propaganda -- it's so Orwellian)?

Will Joe run for president in 2011/2012 election cycle? A bet for YES currently pays 12-1.
Will Joe run for "public office" (any type) in 2009? YES pays 3.5-1.
Will Joe win any elected seat in 2009? YES pays 8-1.
Will Joe the Plumber make a bid for the House of Representatives? YES pays 8-1.
Will Joe WIN a seat in the House of Representatives? YES pays 15-1.
Will Joe the Plumber be hired by any major television news network in 2009? YES pays 6-1.
I suspect he may very well run for public office someday, and perhaps sooner rather than later, but I especially like those odds on being hired by a "major television news network."
