Ann Coulter is a dangerous idiot

YOu know, I've decided to never mention Ann Coulter on my blog. She's got the mentality and sense of humor of a 13-year old. I figure she just loves the attention, so I'm not going to give her any. I'm sure she's saddened.

Actually, that's a good policy, Alan. Perhaps I ought to institute it here. And, you know, it would make a lot of sense for all of us to ignore her.

Maybe some judge will cut all her hair off. That's just a joke, for you in the media.

Look, I think Coulter is an idiot, but, to be fair, lots of left-wingers have made similar comments about Bush and conservatives. That doesn't justify it, of course--they are both wrong-but it's not as if she is the only "commentator" making over-the-top comments. (And, she does have nice, uh, hair.)

Oh, absolutely, Marc. The typical Bush-Hitler comparisons, for example, are completely inappropriate (to say the least). I know I don't focus as much on the idiocy of the left, but I did write a long post a few months ago criticizing the anti-war left.
And, yes, Coulter does have nice hair. One wonders what kind of appeal she'd have if she weren't so physically striking. Well, she'd be no different than Bay Buchanan.

I really think a lot of what people like Coulter and Limbaugh, and, yes Michael Moore, do is about marketing themselves as much as anything else. Controversey and making outrageous statements sells books and gets you noticed. Discussing issues in measured, reasonable tones does not.
In Coulter's case, her physical appearance clearly is a big part of the package. I have heard her promote herself as a "conservative babe." And the pictures obviously are designed to emphasize her looks. Portraying the anti-feminist is a good marketing scheme in that it allows her to sell her sexuality on a seemingly principled basis.

All fine and good, I suppose, to post such a quip (I'm speaking of the opening salvo of this thread), but now that the original link goes NOWHERE, it makes for a terrible disappointment for later visitors and impossible for them to understand the context of the discussion. Tisk Tisk.
