Behind the Ad: Shades of 2008

(Another installment in our extensive "Behind the Ad" series.)

Who: The Obama-Biden campaign.

Where: Unknown.

What's going on: The new ad is called, "We've Come Too Far to Turn Back Now." We'll see how things develop, but one source calls this "the new war cry of the 2012 election." It's an upbeat ad that discusses all the things Obama wants to get done in a second term. It's pure positivity. Also interesting to note that the ad leads with the benefits of health-care reform, an issue some people think may not be a winner. The president begs to disagree.

One particular line that I like is this:

I still believe in you. And if you still believe in me, and if you're willing to stand with me, and knock on some doors with me, and make some phone calls with me, and talk to your neighbor and friends about what's at stake -- we will win this election. We will finish what we started.

Interesting approach, showing a degree of humility, which is not a bad thing. There is also good energy in the ad, which brings to mind 2008. It's Politics 101: It's okay to criticize the other guy, but you also have to tell the people what you want to do, and where you want to take them. This is good.
