Rick Perry gets voting age and election date wrong... in the same sentence

Oh, Rick Perry says the stupidest things, doesn't he?

Falling in the polls, Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry can't afford to discount all voters between 18 and 21 years old. But that's what he seemed to do in a speech [yesterday] at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College.

At the end of his stump speech at a town hall meeting, Perry said, "Those of you that will be 21 by November the 12th, I ask for your support and your vote. Those of you who won't be, work hard."

The legal voting age is 18, not 21. The date of the 2012 general election is Nov. 6.

Whoops. Two mistakes in one sentence. It's almost like he has absolutely no idea what he's talking about.

As Dan Amira writes at New York's Daily Intel blog (h/t for the link above), "[f]ortunately, information such as the legal voting age and the date of the general election are in no way pertinent to Perry at this point anyway."

Indeed.
