Fearmongering?

By Creature

In case you missed it, here's Sen. John Ensign (R-NV) showing his true GOP stripes from Sunday's Meet the Press:

As ThinkProgress noted, "forty-three of the 50 states are facing budget shortfalls." The money going to the states is probably the most important aspect of the stimulus bill and John Ensign calls it fearmongering to point out that essential services will be cut. It's outrageous and it's a lie. Why people like Ensign get into government is beyond me. If you don't care about, or want to help, people--the people who voted you into office and pay your bloated salary--then why go into government in the first place?

  • I just watched that myself last night before bed and had the same outrage. (1) thank you DVR, but 2) getting riled up by this BS is not a good thing to do before bed!) Glad you pointed this out.

  • Oh, and this guy's lunacy should be pointed out by every resident of NYS, who has an incredible budget shortfall and lost over 200,000/600,000+ jobs lost in January.

So people losing jobs isn't going to bring in less tax revenue to the states and thus lead to state-funded jobs lost as well, like firefighters and teachers....that's just FEARMONGERING! bullshit

  • Wait, government is about helping people (said I, who works for the government)? Don't tell that to the GOP, for whom government is about pushing a radical self-interested ideology and, ultimately, cashing in.
