UPDATE (11:00 am): "Was there a plot to kill Obama?" asks Newsweek. "This is a methamphetamine and firearms case that arose from a traffic stop made by an Aurora Police officer," according to the U.S. Attorney's office in Denver. "Firearms and methamphetamine were seized, and a number of individuals are in state custody. The matter continues to be under investigation. We'll provide more information as it becomes available."
Those detained are "believed to be white supremacists."
According to the AP, U.S. Attorney Troy Eid is "absolutely confident there is no credible threat to the candidate, the Democratic National Convention, or the people of Colorado."

Seems as of this morning that the connection between the two arrested men and any plot against Obama is pretty tenuous.
