It's the rebuttal, stupid

This is why Barack Obama will prove to be a winning candidate.
Update: And, while we're on the Gramm subject let's remember he's personally responsible for economic mess that he says we are all whining about. John McCain may not know much about the economy, but it seems his top advisor knows even less.

Gramm's comment was the worst sort of Republican plutocratic arrogance. You know, like when they say poor people deserve to be poor, that sort of thing. But it's not just the worst sort, it's typical. And I think it says something about McCain that this is one of his top economic advisors and surrogates.
And by the way, how much money does Gramm make? Like he has any clue. It's like in '92 when Bush I went to a store and it was like he'd never been to one before.
It's always easy for economists -- right-wing types -- to explain any economic downtown away with theories and numbers. But this is real life and real people are being affected. To them, it's only be a statistic when a few thousand people are laid off, but, to those few thousand, it's pretty fucking huge.

I know what you're saying - reminds me of Jimmy Carter's malaise speech. And oh yeah, when you've been Veep and Prez for 12 years like Bush I was, you don't often make it to the grocery store.
