They're all Muslims, aren't they?
Sunnis? Shiites? Whatever.
According to The Raw Story, Peter Galbraith, former U.S. ambassador to Croatia, claims in a new book that "President George W. Bush was unaware that there were two major sects of Islam just two months before the President ordered troops to invade Iraq".
More: "In his new book, The End of Iraq: How American Incompetence Created A War Without End, Galbraith, the son of the late economist John Kenneth Galbraith, claims that American leadership knew very little about the nature of Iraqi society and the problems it would face after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein."
But we knew that already, didn't we? It'd be funny if it weren't such a nightmare.

Intelligence and GPA don't mean diddly when it comes to real knowledge. What matters is how you apply intelligence. Bush got an MBA. That means he understands (in theory at least) how to make money and manage people. Some would argue that he has never made money of his own without tilting the playing field, and rightly, but he probably learned that in business school as well. A business degree obtained in the US does not require one to know much about what goes on outside the borders of the US, except as it relates to money. Bush is a notoriously incurious man, intelligent or not. I can't imagine him reading up on the sociology of the different sects of Islam unless he sees a profit in it, and he's literal minded enough not to.
My father worked in the defense industry for 30 years, and for an astronomy observatory for another 15. He now works for a Native American tribe. Does that necessarily mean that I know anything about the fields of defense industry, astronomy, or native american issues? No? Then why assume that because Bush's daddy was President he knows something about politics.
Bush has demonstrated incontroveribly, over and over again, his literal mindedness, his shortsightedness, and his cultural ignorance, some of which at least must be deliberate. I have no problem believing that he knew nothing about the Sunni/Shiite schism in politics? How many Baseball owners are up on world religions?
