The postmodern genius of George Lucas

Is Star Wars -- the whole six-part series -- "just one big elephantine postmodern art film" wherein George Lucas presents "a complex and interwoven narrative" and grapples with "the fundamental mechanics of storytelling itself"?

See here. I'm not entirely convinced, but it's an interesting critique.

  • George Lucas might be encountering some of the problems that any storyteller does when trying to compose a prologue. Like, you know, uh, consistency and character development. This academic meditation is misplaced and indulgent.
This is what happens when academics decide to get stoned and try to relate to everyone else.
