The meltdown on Bullshit Mountain News
By Comrade Misfit
The folks at Bullshit Mountain News (BMN) had to deal with the fact that they were so terribly wrong in their forecasts of the election.
Jon Stewart had a lot of fun with it. [Clips one, two, and three.] (Ed. note: These clips are available only in the U.S. If you're in Canada, go here to see last night's episode. If you're anywhere else, I'm not sure what to tell you. -- MJWS)
What the folks at BMN are doing is classic "Frank Burns" mode: "It is G-d's will or someone else's fault."
Nate Silver was on The Daily Show last night and refrained, mostly, from gloating about the triumph of arithmetic over gut feelings.

What the Democrats must do now, while the Republicans are dazed and disoriented, is clean their own house, or should I say Senate. They don't have a filibuster-proof majority, but they've rid themselves of enough deadweight -- Lieberman, Ben Nelson -- and have enough fresh blood coming in that it finally is time to get rid of Reid as majority leader when the new team gets seated in January. Get Harry to step down willingly and if he won't, toss his ass overboard. Obama doesn't have any future elections to worry about now -- if he wants to get things done, he has to slap the members of his own party around who deserve to be slapped. He's not going to lose support by beating up on the entire Congress as often as possible -- nobody likes them. Embrace the newcomers, shun the seatfillers who won't play ball in both parties.
