Surrogate McDonnell speaks for Coward Romney
So it fell to Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, himself no stranger to ugly extremism (anti-gay, pro-Confederacy), to state that Romney is no birther:
A high-level surrogate for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's campaign said this year's White House race will be about issues, not where President Obama was born.
Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) said both he and Romney agree that Obama was born in America.
"I would say both Mitt Romney and I agree. The president was born in America," McDonnell said.
Yes, a surrogate had to say this because, when confronted with the issue last week, before a high-profile event with Chief Birther Donald Trump, Romney himself refused to commit either way, so desperate is he for votes, so much of a shameless panderer, so much of a flip-flopping opportunist.
