Macho doesn't work as a foreign policy

Trying to leave aside every tit for tat, every historical complication, every raw nerve of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, and just look at what Israel is doing today (bombing the fuck out of Gaza), it's hard not to see their actions as anything but just plain dumb. If I'm willing to criticize the hawks here in the U.S. for inflaming anger and creating another generation of terrorists, I'll do the same to Israel (a country I have visited, have relatives in, and love, BTW). If the dumbfucks who are leading Israel, Hamas (and America, for that matter) cannot see that bombing people is counterproductive to the ultimate goal of living peaceably, side by side, then I have to assume I am wrong about the ultimate goal and really this is all about continuing the cycle of violence.

I agree with you, the relentless airforce bombings sicken me, regardless of the rocket attacks. I spent a year working and living in Israel, and actually was picking bananas at 11am one morning in the jordan valley when 15 israeli phantom jets flew up towards lebanon to bomb a target, the shockwaves came down several valleys and went right through our area. Of course, I am 100 percent behind israel's right to survive, but is bombing into oblivion palestinian families the way to do it? I'm not sure.

noted, having worked in kibbutzim, and generally been throughout the country, I am worried about the israeli women, children, and old folks, but also knowing that arab owned land had been seized and used to build settlements, makes me wonder if there couldn't have been a better strategy then that, unfortunately on the palestinian side, every moderate voice that speaks up in favor of peaceful things like building schools and roads, is dead within weeks, and who knows whether arafat's ultimate goal was a palestinian empire with jordan next after israel, but I agree with you, here america we are given a warped perspective of what is going on in this conflict, this happened when israel went into lebanon years ago, and should have finished off arafat, but world opinion was against this, and we were broadcast to only the arab point of view
