When the news broke that Robert Gates was staying on as Secretary of Defense I wasn't thrilled but was willing to withhold judgment until we knew what would happen to the people below Gates. That is, the people held over from the ideology-driven Rumsfeld years. Today the Washington Post has the answers and the news is good. According to the transition team many of Gates' top deputies are on their way out the door. Hopefully with that door hitting them on the way out. Good riddance.
