The Reaction in review (Nov. 9, 2008)

A weekend's Reactions that deserve a second look:

Sunday

By Carol Gee: "Return to the rule of law? The horizon is yet obscure" -- This post focused on President-elect Obama's upcoming challenges in the justice department/intel/civil liberties arena.

By Michael J.W. Stickings: "Frank Rich on the election that was" -- Michael adds his own conclusion to Rich's great stuff: "Much of the power, and not just over the past eight years but over the past several decades, has been held by the right, and the right, both the Republican Party and conservatism in its different forms, will not give up without a fight."

By non sequitur: "Brawl in the church of the Holy Sepulchre" -- Very interesting post, by someone who has been there, about the character of some of the religious people and places in Jerusalem.

Saturday

By LindaBeth: "The U.S. clearly elected Obama. . . but doesn't want liberal politics? Huh?" -- Reaction to the oh-too-conventional wisdom of some in the media, who say that President-elect Obama must steer clear of alienating the voters with too many liberal ideas.

By J.Kingston Pierce: "The audacity of hype" -- A really fine analysis of the leadership and brand issues facing a defeated Republican Party.
