Remember, at this time of financial crisis, McCain wants to privatize Social Security
By Michael J.W. Stickings
Obama is effectively hitting McCain hard on key domestic issues, like health care, abortion, education, and, now, Social Security.
And he has an extremely effective new ad out -- see below.
Noam Scheiber: "Social Security privatization is the loose string that unravels McCain's whole sweater. Not only does it closely tie his economic agenda to Bush's, it connects the financial market crisis to people's personal bottom line in a way that's downright alarming. It's pretty easy to appreciate how disastrous privatization would have been after a week of stock market freefall."
Jonathan Cohn: "This spot doesn't simply remind you that McCain wants to privatize Social Security. It also reminds you that, at a time of great financial volatility, we need programs like Social Security because they protect us from financial misfortune."
