Faster than a speeding bullet
By Michael J.W. Stickings
Two German physicists, according to The Telegraph, "claim to have broken the speed of light -- an achievement that would undermine our entire understanding of space and time". (They didn't break the speed of light themselves, literally, but, if they're right, microwave photons did.)
Interesting, and potentially revolutionary.

If I'm not mistaken, quantum tunneling experiments were first successfully conducted at least a decade ago. Whether or not those photons traveled faster than light or whether they took a shortcut, so to speak, depends on your model of the universe and some have suggested that this phenomenon and others are evidence of parallel universes, between which it's possible for certain particles to travel.

I'm all for parallel universes. In the one I imagine Bush, Cheney, and Rove all wear goatees.
[That one's for you, Libby.]

In my parallel universe, Cheney has inherited J. Edgar Hoover's wardrobe, hence the need for the secret bunker ...

In my universe, I'm the only one with a goatee which would naturally follow from everyone else there being female.
