GWB is no JFK

By Michael J.W. Stickings

There's a great post up by guest blogger Jack at our friend Creature's State of the Day -- see here.

Jack compares George W. Bush to John F. Kennedy and finds, as you might expect, that the former comes up short. In contrast to Kennedy's emphasis on diplomacy, particularly during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Bush is "indifferent to the history he is making," waging "the wrong wars" against "the wrong enemies," "unwilling to negotiate with his enemies," leaving the U.S. "more vulnerable than anytime since those dark days of October 1962". Indeed: "One wonders if diplomacy will ever again trump violence, or whether when the history of our own age is written, the reasons for how it all came to pass, will be thus, 'If we only knew.'"

Make sure to read the whole post. It's excellent.
