The New Republic's bloodless transition of power

Franklin Foer is taking over the editorship of Reaction favourite (and daily read) The New Republic from Peter Beinart -- the Times reports here.

Congratulations, Mr. Foer. You wrote a great book, your work at TNR is consistently excellent, and it'll be good to have you as editor of one of the very best publications out there.

  • The story is very disturbing. I too am a big fan of the New Republic and it bothers me that the circulation is apparently falling off so much. As much as I like blogs, it can't be good when people desert magazines, especially when, in a lot of cases, they do it simply to advance a tendentious agenda. It just seems another example of how polarized poltiical society is becoming.
