The New Republic's bloodless transition of power
Franklin Foer is taking over the editorship of Reaction favourite (and daily read) The New Republic from Peter Beinart -- the Times reports here.
Congratulations, Mr. Foer. You wrote a great book, your work at TNR is consistently excellent, and it'll be good to have you as editor of one of the very best publications out there.

The story is very disturbing. I too am a big fan of the New Republic and it bothers me that the circulation is apparently falling off so much. As much as I like blogs, it can't be good when people desert magazines, especially when, in a lot of cases, they do it simply to advance a tendentious agenda. It just seems another example of how polarized poltiical society is becoming.
